Agnieszka Radwanska wasted little time in booking her spot in round two of the WTA Katowice Open with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Yvonne Wickmayer on Tuesday.
Radwanska, playing her first tournament since a fourth-round defeat to Carla Suarez Navarro at the Miami Open, never looked in trouble in front of her home fans in Poland.
The top seed flew out of the blocks and took a 5-0 lead in the first set and, although Wickmayer got off the mark in her third service game, she safely saw out the opener.
The world number nine fared just as well in the second set, breaking her opponent a further three times, the only blip coming when she failed to serve out for the match when leading 5-2.
Kaia Kanepi was also in dominant form, as the fifth seed needed less than an hour to see off qualifier Shahar Peer 6-1 6-2.
Break of serve was the order of the day in Kirsten Flipkens' 6-4 6-1 beating of Annika Beck.
There were 11 breaks in total in a disjointed clash, but it was the seventh seed who did enough to progress to round two.
Katerina Siniakova outlasted Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor to record a 4-6 7-5 6-2 victory in a marathon match that went on for two hours and 22 minutes.
Anna Schmiedlova overcame a second-set blip to reach round two courtesy of a 6-1 4-6 6-1 victory over Nigina Abduraimova.
Elsewhere, there were straight-set victories for Klara Koukalova, An-Sophie Mestach and Carina Witthoft over Petra Martic, Magdalena Frech and Tereza Smitkova respectively.
Lucky loser Elizaveta Kulichkova and qualifier Magda Linette also progressed in two sets as they secured wins against Urszula Radwanska and Anna-Lena Friedsam.
