Ken Owens has been added to Wales' squad ahead of Saturday's Six Nations clash against Grand Slam hopefuls Ireland.

The hooker has 26 Test caps to his name and made four appearances as Wales won the Grand Slam in 2012.

His last outing came in the narrow 31-30 loss to South Africa in Nelspruit last June.

The Scarlets man will now come into contention for the match at the Millennium Stadium as Wales attempt to derail champions Ireland and boost their own title hopes in the process.

Wales also confirmed that uncapped Exeter Chiefs prop Tomas Francis will train with the squad this week.
