Nebraska offense stalls at home in loss to Northern Illinois image

Nebraska's early struggles continued Saturday, but at least last week the Cornhuskers lost in a shootout with Oregon.

Now, Nebraska has dropped its second home game this season, following a 21-17 loss against Northern Illinois at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

Huskers quarterback Tanner Lee threw for 299 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions, including two first-half pick-sixes that caused the home fans to boo the team into the locker room.

While the Nebraska's  offense was stagnant, Northern Illinois' wasn't great either. Huskies quarterback Daniel Santacaterina threw for only 128 yards and no touchdowns. Their lone touchdown on offense came on a run in the fourth quarter that gave them the lead.

Lee led the Huskers on their final drive with three minutes left in the fourth quarter when he threw his third interception on the day, allowing the Huskies to run out the clock.

Based on this start, Nebraska doesn't look to be a competitor in the Big Ten this season. The Huskers open conference play next weekend against Rutgers.
