Conor McGregor claims his opponents "always run" and hit out at Rafael dos Anjos for pulling out of their eagerly awaited fight at UFC 196.

Featherweight champion McGregor was aiming to make history by becoming the first man to hold titles in two weight divisions at the same time in his scheduled bout with lightweight belt holder Dos Anjos.

However, Dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from the fight with a foot injury and McGregor will instead step up two weight divisions to face welterweight Nate Diaz.

And the big-talking Irishman pulled no punches when asked what he thought about Dos Anjos' decision.

"I just thought 'it's another day'. They always run. They always make it out like they want it," he said.

"They don't want it so I was expecting it. I looked at the picture he put up. It's a bruise. I heard ice works wonders.

"Really, I should create my own belt. Because I am my own belt. It's the McGregor belt. Featherweight to lightweight to welterweight, it's the McGregor belt so that’s it."

McGregor, who won his featherweight belt by knocking out former champion Jose Aldo in 13 seconds last December, says that Dos Anjos is not the only one to shy away from a fight and even claimed Diaz was a reluctant opponent.

"Frankie (Edgar) never shut up and when he was given a phone call and a date, he hasn't been seen or heard from since," he added.

"Jose (Aldo) also. Jose was in camp, apparently preparing in case Dos Anjos pulled out and all of a sudden, (Rafael) Dos Anjos pulls out with his bruised foot and Jose isn't fit.

"Even Nate tried to exit the fight cleanly. The first discussion was the money issue, we resolved that. Then he could only make 160 [pounds], then 165 so I told him 'get comfortable, you can make 170' and we're going to fight. I look forward to it."
