While most are looking forward to the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight on May 2, a film released on Wednesday looks back at the Filipino boxer's tough childhood.

The movie is named "Kid Kulafu" after Pacquiao's early nickname he received from the label of wine bottles he used to collect for money as a kid. The film shows his struggles in poverty, long before he became a boxing champion.

"He had every excuse in the book to fail -- broken family, no food, no home, nowhere to go, no money, but he still persevered, and that's what I want the people to see -- that he is where he is today because of hard work," director Paul Soriano told the Associated Press.

During the premiere of the film in Milan, Soriano said he spent two years doing research.

"Kid Kulafu" will be shown in some U.S. theaters beginning April 24. Though it's not in English, you can still get a sense of how intense this flick is going to be in this trailer.
