A late wobble from Kiradech Aphibarnrat dented his hopes of victory at the inaugural Shenzhen International.
The Thai player looked set to head into Sunday's final round with a five-shot lead after moving to 15 under par with birdies on nine of the first 13 holes - although he did bogey the fifth and the seventh.
But his lead was cut to just two strokes as his putting faltered on the final two holes, following a double bogey at the par-five 17th with another dropped shot at the last to allow the chasing pack back into contention.
Playing partner Peter Uihlein is two shots back following an inconsistent one-under third round of 71, which took him to 10 under for the tournament.
Pablo Larrazabal would have been level with Uihlein had he not bogeyed the 17th at the end of a round in which he holed eight gains to surge into contention.
Scott Hend, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Ford and Emiliano Grillo are all tied fourth at eight under, while home hope Li Hao-tong heads a group of five players on seven under going into the last day at the Genzon Golf Club.
