As Hurricane Irma devastated much of Florida over the weekend, Lane Kiffin and his Florida Atlantic football team were in Madison, Wisc., for a Sept. 9 game against the Wisconsin Badgers that ended in a 31-14 loss for the Owls.

Kiffin showed his appreciation for Wisconsin's hospitality during the storm by taking out a full page ad in the Wisconsin State Journal. Wisconsin State Journal reporter Todd Milewski tweeted the ad Friday morning.

FAU stayed in Madison until Wednesday while Irma made its way through Florida, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

“They’ve gone above and beyond,” Kiffin told the Sun-Sentinel. “It hasn’t just been food. It hasn’t just been facilities. To let us use their meeting rooms, that’s kind of sacred sometimes for people. It’s been really neat.”

The FAU program also posted this message to the Badgers on Instragram Wednesday.

Now that Irma has passed, we have to thank Wisconsin for their hospitality. Your department and fans are some of the best. Thank You.

Classes at FAU are canceled until Sept. 18. The school's football stadium received "minimal damage," according to Owl Access.
