Kolkata Knight Riders' Indian Premier League fixture against Rajasthan Royals was abandoned due to torrential rain on Sunday.
The heavens opened before play at Eden Gardens and caused several damp patches to the pitch.
The rain eventually relented and after several inspections there was hope that at least a shortened contest of five overs per side would be played.
However, with the cut-off time nearing and concerns about the wet patches on the turf, the decision was taken to not play the match.
The Royals, who top the table with 11 points, were hoping to bounce back from consecutive defeats, while defending champions Kolkata also lost last time out to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
