Japan coach Eddie Jones hopes South Africa's Rugby World Cup clash against Samoa is "like a UFC fight".
Jones' team failed to back up their shock win over the Springboks, going down to Scotland 45-10 on Wednesday.
But they remain a chance of progressing to the quarter-finals, sitting third – behind Scotland and Samoa – in Pool B.
Samoa and South Africa do battle on Saturday before the former meets Japan a week later.
With that in mind, Jones – whose team had a four-day turnaround – said he wanted a physical clash between the teams at Villa Park in Birmingham.
"It's Samoa in 10 days. If we can knock Samoa off in 10 days then we have a fantastic chance [of making the last eight]," he said.
"If we can't knock Samoa off we have no chance, so it's all about the Samoan game.
"Hopefully South Africa and Samoa at the weekend is like a UFC fight. I hope they just belt each other up.
"That's what we're hoping for, a bit of the old Springbok power coming forward. Then Samoa have got to back it up seven days later against us. What comes around goes around."
Japan trailed 12-7 at half-time against Scotland in Gloucester, but Vern Cotter's men scored 33 unanswered points.
Jones said his team failed to take their chances, while he praised the Scots for their performance.
"At half-time I thought we had a realistic chance to win the game. They got into our 22, they took the opportunities," he said.
"We gave them a number of opportunities to score from. They scored at least two tries off our turnovers, intercepted passes and when we got in their 22 we weren't clinical enough in our attack to finish, so it was a game of one team taking their opportunities and the other losing it.
"I thought they were quite good at the tackle today, they slowed our ball down to a large degree, the second man in the tackle was pretty good which made it hard for us to get any momentum.
"As you know we are not a big team, so we rely so much on the quickness of the ball, so I thought they played very well, they were too good for us today."
