Italy's talismanic captain Sergio Parisse has been ruled out of Saturday's Six Nations encounter against Wales with a foot injury.

The number eight was injured during the 29-0 reverse to France in Rome last weekend - a match in which the skipper became Italy's most capped player.

It was hoped that Parisse would be fit for the match against title hopefuls Wales at Stadio Olimpico after scans revealed there was no serious damage, but he has to sit out meaning Mauro Bergamasco comes into the starting XV.

Italy also make two changes to their front row, with Michele Rizzo and Martin Castrogiovanni replacing Matias Aguero and Dario Chistolini.

Team in full: Luke McLean, Leonardo Sarto, Luca Morisi, Andrea Masi, Giovanbattista Venditti,  Kelly Haimona, Edoardo Gori, Michele Rizzo, Leonardo Ghiraldini, Martin Castrogiovanni, George Biagi, Joshua Furno, Francesco Minto, Mauro Bergamasco, Samuela Vunisa

Replacements: Andrea Manici, Alberto De Marchi, Dario Chistolini, Quintin Geldenhuys, Robert Barbieri, Guglielmo Palazzani, Luciano Orquera, Enrico Bacchin
