Ian Poulter hit out at an article that criticised his decision to skip the BMW PGA Championship.
The Englishman, not backward in broadcasting his opinion, took exception to criticism of his decision to skip the European Tour event at Wentworth Club, starting May 21.
The Daily Mail published an article lauding Masters winner Jordan Spieth's conduct in honouring agreements to play particular tournaments even after his Augusta heroics, with the piece comparing Spieth's actions to the absence of Poulter, Henrik Stenson and Sergio Garcia ahead of the €5million event.
"I've played 13 PGA's at Wentworth and had 1 Top 10. I've had 8 MC. Would Usain Bolt compete in a marathon. I didn't think so... Enough said," Poulter tweeted.
"Simple terms. I've won 19.11 world ranking points from poss 832 over 13 years. & for tied 3rd at Open in 2012 I won 28.50 Points.
"However I will be at @WoburnGC for the British masters in October. So I will be playing 2 big events in the UK. Same as this year.
He later added: "Ok I've read enough bollocks today, some might say I've written some as well. Can't please everyone unfortunately. Business is business".
