An Australian police warrant has been issued for the arrest of Hull FC centre Steve Michaels as part of a drugs scandal that has rocked NRL club Gold Coast Titans.

Michaels made the switch to the Super League side from the Titans in the close-season and has also represented Doncaster as part of a dual-registration deal.

The 28-year-old becomes the latest player to be implicated in an investigation led by the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) in relation to drugs trafficking.

Former Titan Ashley Harrison is due to appear in court next month in relation to two counts of supplying a dangerous drug, while a warrant has been issued for Michaels.

The CCC confirmed Michaels will be arrested on his return to Australia and faces 10 counts of supplying a dangerous drug.

"The CCC will allege these two individuals were identified contacting the syndicate and allegedly arranging for the supply of cocaine for personal use or to on-supply cocaine to friends and colleagues between June 2014 and November 2014," read a CCC statement.

Greg Bird, David Taylor, Kalifa Faifai Loa, Jamie Dowling and Beau Falloon are among current Titans players set to appear in court in relation to the investigation, although there has been so suggestion any of those players were involved in trafficking.

Hull chairman Adam Pearson stated the club will deal with Michaels' situation internally as they establish all the facts.

Speaking to The Hull Daily Mail, he said: "We are dealing with this matter in house and are currently trying to find out what the facts are.

"Until we know any more, at this point we will not be making any further comment on the matter."
