Leon Haslam clocked the fastest time of the weekend to claim pole position for Sunday's opening Superbike World Championship race at Aragon.
The Aprilia rider, who is second in the title standings after two rounds of the championship, produced a blistering time of one minute and 49.664 seconds - the quickest Superbike time recorded on the new Aragon configuration.
Haslam's hot lap came in the final minute of a frantic qualifying session as he clinched his first pole since Phillip Island in 2010.
Ducati's Chaz Davies was quickest in free practice one and three, but the Welshman had to settle for second on the grid after falling just 0.033 seconds short of Haslam.
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki) rounds off the front row after going third quickest.
Championship leader Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) heads the second row ahead of Xavi Fores (Ducati), enjoying a fine debut weekend, and Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad).
Defending champion Sylvain Guintoli (Honda) endured a frustrating FP3 and subsequently had to participate in Superpole One.
The Frenchman fared little better, failing to get one of the two spots for Superpole Two and he had to make do with 14th on the grid.
