Jamie Heaslip returns to Ireland's squad to face Wales in the Six Nations on Saturday in a match that will mark captain Paul O'Connell's 100th cap.

Number eight Heaslip fractured three vertebrae when he was kneed by France's Pascal Pape in their second match of the tournament.

There were fears the influential forward, who was absent for the 19-9 victory over England last time out, could miss the rest of the tournament.

However, he returned to training earlier this week and is named in the starting XV in place of Jordi Murphy - who drops to the replacements.

O'Connell will once more lead out the side on his landmark appearance.

Coincidentally, O'Connell's Ireland career also started against Wales in the 2002 Six Nations - the men in green romping to a 54-10 victory on that occasion.

Ireland travel to the Millennium Stadium looking to continue their bid for a Grand Slam.
