Hawks overcome Cavs, Harden has triple-double image

The Atlanta Hawks highlighted their NBA title credentials with a 106-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.

The Eastern Conference's top team were too good for a side sitting fourth, as an even contribution led them to the win at Philips Arena.

Al Horford (19 points), Paul Millsap (16), Jeff Teague (16), Dennis Schroder (15), Mike Scott (14) and DeMarre Carroll (11) all contributed.

Kyrie Irving had a game-high 20 points for the Cavs, while LeBron James went five-of-13 from the field to finish with 18 points.

The 49-12 Hawks have won six straight games, while the Cavs are 39-25.

The Golden State Warriors strengthened their grip on top spot in the Western Conference with a 104-89 win over the Dallas Mavericks, Stephen Curry leading the way with 22 points and seven assists. 

James Harden had a triple-double to lead the Houston Rockets to a 103-93 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Toyota Center.

Harden had 38 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists as the Rockets ended a two-game losing run.

Mo Williams (23 points) and Al Jefferson (23 points and 13 rebounds) helped the Charlotte Hornets past the Toronto Raptors 103-94.

The Memphis Grizzlies beat the Los Angeles Lakers 97-90 and the Phoenix Suns rallied to a 108-100 overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets.

Kawhi Leonard (25 points) and Tony Parker (24) saw the San Antonio Spurs past the Denver Nuggets 120-111.

The Indiana Pacers claimed their fourth straight win by overcoming the Chicago Bulls 98-84, while Victor Oladipo starred with 32 points and 10 assists in the Orlando Magic's 119-114 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

The Utah Jazz's defence was key in their 89-83 win over the Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards edged the Miami Heat 99-97.

The Boston Celtics were guided to a 104-98 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans by Isaiah Thomas (27 points).
