After racing out to a 3-0 lead early on, the Germans held on during a nervous finish to ensure they'll pick up their first Olympic ice hockey medal since they claimed bronze way back in 1976.
Set to face off against Russia in the final, Germany made sure to soak up the win and rubbed some salt into Canada's wounds with a hilarious tweet sent from their Foreign Office.

Canada, who were without a host of NHL stars, had claimed gold at the previous two Olympics and will now battle it out with the Czech Republic for a bronze.
Leading into the Olympics, Germany were placed as 60-1 outsiders having failed to even qualify for the event in 2014.
