Bernie Ecclestone expects Formula One to be sold to one of three interested parties before the end of 2015.

F1 supremo Ecclestone, who has been in charge of the sport since 1978, did not disclose any details of the interested buyers although Stephen Ross - owner of NFL side Miami Dolphins - is reportedly working with Qatari investors to buy a stake.

Investment fund CVC Capital Partners is the current controlling shareholder, but Ecclestone predicts there will be a change in ownership before the end of 2015.

Speaking via telephone at the Camp Beckenbauer summit, Ecclestone said: "Shareholders at the moment are in such a position where they have to lose some of their shares or all of them shortly, that's the way it's set up for them.

"There's been a lot of interest, three parties interested, and I'd be surprised if one of them doesn't buy very shortly.

Asked for a time frame on a potential purchase, Ecclestone replied: "This year."
