Mother Nature got the upper hand as the PGA Tour tried to get under way at Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego.
Fog prevented an on-time start for the Farmers Insurance Open, delaying first-round play several times.

Oh boy. A skull shot on Tiger's opening chip of the day at #TorreyPines. Ugly start. Bogey. Next tee shot: nowhere near fairway. Yikes.

Tiger chips in at 2. Hope after all. Blew chip at 1 at least 20 past. Standing down from DefCon 1.

Nine players were on the course when play halted. There was little organizers could do but wait for the fog to burn off. Best guess for resumption of play would have players three hours behind schedule.
And we have golf again at #TorreyPines.

Bank on it: If Tiger struggles again today, every headline about his round is gonna be "Lost in a Fog."

Sure enough ... "Tiger Woods was in a fog Thursday, and so was everyone else at the Farmers Insurance Open." That was an early lead from the Associated Press.
