The 18-year-old struggled with a 48.25 score in her first run before a fall resulted in the judges awarding her 9.25 in her second run.

Then as she looked to bounce back, Arthur face-planted into the snow with a nasty stack in her final run, forcing her out of the race for a medal.

Still stunned as she walked off the half-pipe, Arthur was seen with blood dripping from her nose as doctors came to her attention.

Arthur told Channel Seven reporters at the venue she was felt some pain after the fall.

"I'm good and I'm alive," Arthur said.

"Got a real swollen left eye when I look around, but I'm fine, I'm happy just being here."

Arthur gave it all in her final run as she desperately pushed for a podium position.

"I really went for it in my last run, I think I definitely could have moved up a bit (in the rankings)," she said.

Favourite for the gold medal, America's Chloe Kim finished on top with a final run score of 98.25 with China's Liu Jiayu second and American Ariel Gold round out the podium.
