Under the NBA’s free-agency rules the Cavaliers have the option to match the Bucks’ offer by July 11 (AEST) but the reigning NBA champs realistically don’t have the cap space to retain the popular Aussie.

Dellavedova’s move will see him join Australian rookie Thon Maker, who was taken by the Bucks with the 10th pick of the NBA draft.

The Australian’s massive deal was one of many struck on the first day of free agency.

He was undrafted in 2013 but was picked up by the Cavs and quickly became a cult hero after a couple of standout performances in the 2014 NBA Finals.

The Victorian leaves the Cavs with the blessing of his superstar team-mate LeBron James.

Dellavedova averaged 7.5 points and 4.4 assists per game in 2015 and will likely come off the bench as back-up point-guard for the talented Bucks roster.
