The fight will take place on July 7 in Las Vegas following the filming of reality tv show The Ultimate Fighter which has lined up both fighters to serve as head coaches.

Both Cormier and Miocic claimed wins at UFC 220 in Boston last week.

Should Cormier defeat Miocic he'll become the second fighter in UFC history, after Conor McGregor, to simultaneously hold titles in two different weight classes.

Cormier is undefeated fighting in the heavyweight division (13-0) but has lost once in the light heavyweight division, while Miocic has an overall record of 18-2.

With an already strong card scheduled for UFC 226, the announcement of Cormier v Miocic has fans just a little bit excited.
