After filling the void left by Dave Hockaday's dismissal, caretaker boss Redfearn led the Yorkshire club to three wins and a draw in his four Championship games in temporary charge.

However, Milanic has now arrived from Austrian side Sturm Graz and is keen to prove his worth by helping Leeds continue to climb up the table.

"I'm very motivated and excited about my new job," said Milanic after arriving at Elland Road this week.

"This is a very special thing for me to be the head coach of such a big club with great tradition and great fans.

"Leeds is one of the most traditional clubs in England and they have had great players in their history. Leeds have won titles and enjoyed good times in the Champions League.

"I know that the team is now in a good shape and this is a very good moment for the team."

Milanic will now head to Griffin Park on Saturday looking to make an instant impact at Leeds.

Like Leeds, rock-bottom Fulham and Cardiff City have also recently parted company with their managers.

Fulham travel to Birmingham City still seeking a first league win of the campaign, while Cardiff host Sheffield Wednesday after picking up just two points from their last five Championship outings.

Leaders Nottingham Forest will look to resume winning ways in the league when Brighton and Hove Albion visit the City Ground after drawing a blank in front of goal for the first time this season in last weekend's goalless stalemate at Millwall.

Forest boss Stuart Pearce admitted his players regarded that result as two points dropped, but he waxed lyrical on the positives of a fourth clean sheet of the current league campaign.

"We have an abundance of determination to get blocks in and do the dirty side of the game," said Pearce.

Second-placed Norwich City are on the road at Blackpool knowing they cannot afford to keep starting slowly, having had to come from 2-0 down when winning at Cardiff and again during last weekend's 2-2 draw with Birmingham.

Blackburn Rovers and Watford shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller at Vicarage Road the last time they did battle in March and will renew rivalries at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Middlesbrough, who lost following a thrilling penalty shootout at Liverpool in midweek in the League Cup, bid to secure a fourth straight Championship success when they arrive at Charlton Athletic, but the hosts have yet to taste defeat this term in the league.

Ipswich Town have picked up maximum points from their last three matches and entertain Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers host Derby County, Wigan Athletic visit Bournemouth and Millwall travel to Huddersfield Town.

Sunday's sole fixture sees Wolves take a six-match unbeaten run to Reading, who have won three of their four league games at Madejski Stadium this term.
