While the fight will be broadcast on HBO PPV, a site is yet to be determined, ESPN reported. Many expect the rematch to be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas — where Canelo and Golovkin fought to a draw in their first bout — but Golden Boy Promotions' Eric Gomez, Alvarez’s manager, said recently that Madison Square Garden may bid to host the event as well.
The tagline, "This time, they won't leave it up to the judges" is being used to promote the rematch, an ironic approach by Golden Boy since the large majority of people who watched the first fight last September were pretty sure Golovkin won.
Golovkin is a substantial favorite in the rematch, according to Las Vegas oddsmakers. The Westgate SuperBook has GGG priced at -180 (bet $180 to win $100), with Canelo offered as the +210 underdog (bet $100 to win $210), manager Ed Salmons said in a text message to Omnisport.
