The Mount Union Purple Raiders and Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks meet in the Division III national championship – also known as the Stagg Bowl -- for the ninth time in 10 years Friday.
The Warhawks won five of those head-to-head meetings, and the Purple Raiders have four national titles in the same stretch, including a win against St. Thomas (Minn.) in the lone season when the two schools didn’t meet for the championship.
