Ings is in the final year of his contract at the Lancashire club, but Garlick is adamant the 22-year-old will not leave next month and is still hopeful of persuading the England Under-21 international to sign a new deal.

The 22-year-old has scored 36 goals in 105 appearances for Burnley and has continually been linked with a return to Premier League rivals Southampton, who released him when he was a schoolboy.

Garlick, though, insists Burnley are determined to keep hold of their prized asset – at least until he becomes a free agent.

"Come February 2nd, Danny will be playing for Burnley, 100 per cent guaranteed," Garlick told The Burnley Express.

"Everyone loves having him here, and hopefully he will be here further on."

Ings fired Burnley into the top flight with 20 goals in 40 Championship games last term and has netted four times in the Premier League in 2014-15.
