Broncos DT Adam Gotsis arrested on 2013 rape charge, report says image

Broncos defensive tackle Adam Gotsis has been arrested on a charge of strong-arm rape stemming from an alleged 2013 incident, according to a report in the Denver Post.

The Post reported that the incident allegedly occurred while Gotsis was attending Georgia Tech. According to the report, Gotsis turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on March 7. He was later released on a $50,000 bond.

The Broncos issued a statement to the Post saying they are monitoring the situation:

“We were recently informed of an investigation into an alleged incident involving Adam Gotsis that occurred in 2013 when he was in college. Our organization was aware of his arrest on March 7, and it is our understanding that no determination has been made at this time as to whether any charges will be filed.

“The Broncos take an accusation of this nature very seriously and will continue to closely monitor the legal proceedings. This issue was promptly reported to the NFL as soon as we learned of it, and we will remain in communication with the league office regarding this matter.”

A native of Melbourne, Australia, the 25-year-old Gotsis started 13 games last season, compiling 41 tackles and two sacks.

The Broncos selected Gotsis in the second round (No. 63 overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft.
