It is alleged Peris lodged the application overnight after the pair seperated several weeks ago.
Seven News Sydney say sources close to the couple confirmed Peris and Kenny-Dowall have been in negotiations about a financial settlement since the end of their 18-month relationship.
"An investigation is underway following a number of allegations that were made to police. It would be inappropriate to comment further," a NSW police spokeswoman said.
The Roosters are aware of the situation and are advising Kenny-Dowall and the NRL have also been informed.
Peris is the daughter of Federal Senator and former Olympian Nova Peris.
