American Pharoah will be the next horse attempting to defy the odds and win the Triple Crown on Saturday, June 6 at the Belmont Stakes in Belmont, New York.

Since Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978, only 14 horses have managed to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.

American Pharoah will enter the race with the best odds to run away with a win and into horse racing legend, however, history has shown that the favorite doesn't always get the best results. The past three Triple Crown hopefuls — California Chrome (2014), I'll Have Another (2012), and Big Brown (2008) — didn't fair so well, with California Chrome finishing fourth, I'll Have Another being scratched, and Big Brown losing a shoe, not finishing at all.

Throw out your bets, throw out the odds, and tune out those guys in Vegas. At the Belmont Stakes, only one thing is certain: Anything can happen.

Here is a quick look at the most recent winners of the Belmont Stakes.
