Mark Schwarzer played as Leicester City lost 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace, who were missing Australia captain Mile Jedinak due to an ankle injury.

Jason Davidson was not in the squad for West Bromwich Albion's 2-2 draw away to Burnley.

In the Championship, debutant Chris Herd - on loan from Aston Villa - played until the 60th minute of Wigan Athletic's 3-1 loss at home to Bournemouth, the versatile player taken off as a precaution due to a tight Achilles.

Adam Federici played a full game as Reading won 2-1 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In League One, Massimo Luongo set up the second goal for Swindon Town in their 2-0 victory at home to Barnsley.

Neil Kilkenny played until the 66th minute and Bailey Wright was an unused substitute for Preston North End as they beat Coventry City 1-0 at home.

In the Scottish Premiership, Ryan McGowan helped Dundee United to keep a clean sheet and pick up all three points in a 3-0 win away to Stranraer. 

Jackson Irvine though was unable to prevent Ross County from going down 4-0 away to Aberdeen. 

Europe

It was an unhappy return to club duty for Mat Ryan, who conceded twice as Club Brugge lost 2-0 away to Kortrijk in the Belgian Pro League.

James Troisi meanwhile came off the bench for the final 20 minutes of Zulte Waregem's 3-2 defeat at home to Lierse.

Mitch Langerak was on the bench for Borussia Dortmund as they defeated Freiburg 3-0 in the Bundesliga, while Ben Halloran was an unused substitute for Fortuna Dusseldorf in their 1-1 draw at Karlsruher in the 2. Bundesliga.

Mathew Leckie came on for the final 14 minutes of Ingolstadt's 1-0 win at Greuther Furth.

In the Eredivisie, Tommy Oar played until the 77th minute of Utrecht's 3-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven.

Josh Brillante was introduced for the final three minutes of Empoli's 2-0 Serie A win at home to Cesena, making his debut for the club he joined on loan from Fiorentina. 

A tier below in Serie B, Mark Birighitti was on the bench for AS Varese as they drew 1-1 at home to Pro Vercelli.

In the Swiss Super League, Oliver Bozanic came off with 14 minutes to go in Luzern's 1-1 draw at home to Young Boys. 

Aziz Behich was an unused substitute for Bursaspor in their 3-1 Turkish Super Lig win at home to Genclerbirligi.

Asia

Mark Bresciano played the full game and picked up a booking as his Al Gharafa lost 3-2 at home to Lekhwiya in Qatar's Stars League. 

In the Arabian Gulf League, Brett Holman came off in the 44th minute of Al Nasr's 2-0 win at Al Sharjah.
