Ducks, Canadiens seal play-off berths image

A 3-2 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday saw the Anaheim Ducks seal their spot in the NHL play-offs.

Goals from Rickard Rakell, Kyle Palmieri and Andrew Cogliano helped the Ducks secure their victory at the Nassau Coliseum.

The Ducks are the NHL's leading team with 103 points, one ahead of both the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

The Canadiens secured their place in the Stanley Cup play-offs with a 3-2 overtime win against the Florida Panthers.

After coming from 2-1 down to force overtime, the Canadiens claimed victory thanks to a goal from Max Pacioretty.

The Predators are also into the play-offs after a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals.

A three-goal first period set up the Predators' victory, with Filip Forsberg starring with a goal and two assists.

Sidney Crosby scored once and set up two others in the third period to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

With his side trailing 1-0, Crosby stepped up.

He was involved in goals from Daniel Winnik and Steve Downie before scoring one himself to help the Penguins to their win.

The Columbus Blue Jackets made it eight straight road wins by beating the St Louis Blues 4-2.

Milan Lucic's two goals guided the Boston Bruins past the New York Rangers 4-2 and the San Jose Sharks needed a shoot-out to edge the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2.

The Toronto Maple Leafs scored three third-period goals on their way to a 4-3 overtime victory against the Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0.

The Carolina Hurricanes beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1, the Minnesota Wild crushed the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 and the Colorado Avalanche overcame the Buffalo Sabres 5-3.

The Dallas Stars needed overtime to edge the Vancouver Canucks 4-3.
