Fernando Alonso insists his decision to rejoin McLaren will only prove a mistake if former team Ferrari manage to win the Formula One world championship.
Two-time world champion Alonso spent five years at Ferrari between 2010 and 2014, finishing runner-up in the drivers' standings on three occasions.
The Spaniard's choice to return to McLaren has been questioned in the early stages of the 2015 calendar as the team struggle with their new Honda link, while Ferrari have started the season well with Sebastian Vettel winning in Malaysia in race two.
Ferrari's showing at Sepang led to hope for F1 fans that Mercedes' dominance will be challenged after they swept aside the competition last season.
But Alonso is confident he made the right call to jump ship and will only admit he made a mistake if the Italian constructors bring home the title.
"In five years I finished second three times and I didn't want to finish second anymore, so I'm in the right place now," he told Sky Sports.
"Of course, I understand the questions - Ferrari won in Malaysia, I was out of Q2, so it's a very easy question now.
"But in November we'll see. If they [Ferrari] win the championship, it's a bad decision. If they finish second, it's a very good decision."
