Cody Simpson was hoping to make his Olympic debut for Australia this year after the singer made a late-career switch to swimming, one which has already seen him compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
But in order to book his ticket to Paris, he needed to qualify at the 2024 Australian Swimming Trials, where spots are scarce and competition is often cut-throat.
So, was the international music superstar able to realise his childhood dream and make the Olympic team for his country?
Did Cody Simpson qualify for the Olympics?
Cody Simpson failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics, after finishing fifth with a time of 51.79 in the 100m butterfly.
He placed fourth in the event during April's Australian Open championships and was unable to place inside the top two in the final after Matt Temple charged home to secure his place on the team.
Simpson was initially set to contend the 50m freestyle on Wednesday but did not feature.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, his time of 49.04 in the prelims wasn't enough to make the 100m freestyle final.
Who is Cody Simpson's partner?
Cody Simpson is currently dating Emma McKeon, Australia's most decorated Olympian and fellow swimmer.
McKeon has already qualified for what will be her third Olympic Games, after taking out the Women's 100m butterfly earlier in the week.
She broke the record for most medals won by a female swimmer at a single Olympics in 2020, claiming seven total - four gold and three bronze - and her 11 total Olympic medals is the most ever by an Australian athlete.
