Will Brittany O'Brien compete in the 2024 Olympic Games?
O'Brien will not compete in Paris after failing to qualify for the Australian diving team.
Nine athletes made the squad for the 2024 Games.
The springboarder reflected on her non-selection in an Instagram post following the national trials.
"I went into this Olympic trials feeling as prepared as I possibly could – but honestly nothing can prepare you for the pressure you feel during a competition with so much at stake," O'Brien wrote.
"On Friday my nerves got the better of me in round 1, and despite putting up a fight in round 2 and 3 I just couldn’t quite make back the lost points in such a competitive field.
"I’m trying to remind myself that I’m only 3 years into my springboard career and I know I’ve still got plenty more to give.
"It’s taking great patience and trust in the process but I’ll be back and better than ever.
"Well done to my amazing team mates and thank you to my coaches/support staff/friends and family for supporting me I love you all more than you know."
She also posted a TikTok shortly after the trials, sharing she missed out on a spot alongside fellow diver and social media star Sam Fricker.
