While green and gold may not feature on the flag, those two colours have become synonymous with sporting success in Australia.

Unsurprisingly, the iconic colour palette is again at the heart of the team's Olympic uniform for 2024.

Here's what the Australian team will be wearing at this year's opening and closing ceremonies in Paris.

Australia Olympic opening ceremony uniform: What are Aussies wearing in Paris?

Sportscraft have designed the Australian opening ceremony uniforms again, tasked with the challenge of creating an outfit that can fit athletes of all shapes and sizes.

The centrepiece of the 2024 uniform is a dark green blazer, which features gold embroidery.

For the men, it is single-breasted, while the women will wear double-breasted jackets.

The blazers are also worn to any formal Olympic engagements.

The t-shirts underneath the blazers are made of 100 per cent Australian cotton and include green and gold ribbing.

Athletes then have a choice with what they wear below the blazer: either a skirt or shorts.

The skirt is in a pleated ombre design inspired by a Parisian sunset, while the shorts are a plain beige chino design.

There is also First Nations recognition, with Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander artworks seen on the scarf in the women’s uniform, the men's pocket square and inside the gold crossbody bag.

In true Aussie style, the uniform is brought together by a pair of Volley shoes with green and gold finishes.

When are the Olympics? Paris 2024 dates

This year's Olympic Games will began two days before the opening ceremony.

The first events – group stage football and rugby sevens pool matches – started on Wednesday, July 24.

Paris 2024 will wrap up on Sunday, August 11.

How hot will it be in Paris? France summer weather forecast

In late July and early August, Paris has historical averages of highs around 25C and lows of 14C, according to Accuweather.

With the opening and closing ceremonies to begin in the evening, the Aussie athletes should be nice and comfortable in blazers and shorts.
