Kyle Turris is more popular than the Easter bunny in Ottawa, thanks to Sunday's overtime goal against the Washington Capitals.

Needing a victory to hang with the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings in the Atlantic Division race for third place, the Sens nearly committed a mortal sin by failing to turn three first-period goals into a regulation victory.

Then came the moment for Turris, who scored on a breakaway at 3:14 of overtime.

"We got off to the start we wanted, played really well and we were aggressive on pucks, and then we started sitting back again," Turris told media members after the game. "It's something we've got to talk about and work on moving forward. We battled and got the points we needed."

With Boston and Detroit winning in shootouts, a loss would have left the Sens five point behind in a battle that is for third in the division and a wild-card berth.

The Senators visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, and the Capitals are in Detroit to face the Wings.
