Phones down. The NHL trade deadline has come and gone.
One of the best times of the year has concluded on the hockey calendar, with the deadline for teams to make trades official in the rearview. Several front offices were under pressure to add and put their teams in the best positions down the stretch, and many did just that.
Many franchises made their significant midseason deals well ahead of the deadline. Elias Lindholm, Vladimir Tarasenko, Casey Mittelstadt, Bowen Byram, and Anthony Mantha all were moved before Friday, and Jake Guentzel, Noah Hanifin, and Anthony Duclair joined them later in the week.
While the actual deadline day may not have been as choatic as years past, there was still entertainment and one particular deal that no one saw coming.
The Sporting News tracked all of the trades ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline. Follow along below with the action.
