To the unwashed, National Hockey League awards are a collection of hardware with funny names. To hockey fans, the trophies are just desserts for players who battled through 82 games.
Individual recognition is great, but every player has one goal every season: see his name etched on the rings of the Stanley Cup.

The Ted Lindsay Award, which is presented annually to the "most outstanding player" in the NHL as voted by members of the National Hockey League Players' Association, also will be awarded on June 24. That night in Las Vegas, the NHL stages its annual awards show.
Many of the awards are decided by votes. Others are the result of statistical success. Conn Smythe Trophy is awarded to the most valuable player of the playoffs after the final game of the Stanley Cup finals.
Here are other awards to be presented at the awards show and the dates finalists will be announced, where applicable:
April 28: Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award
May 1: NHL Foundation Player Award (community service)
May 4: Jack Adams Award (top coach)
May 5: Ted Lindsay Award
