Buffalo is looking for a replacement for Ted Nolan, whom it fired in April. Babcock is currently under contract with Detroit until the end of June, but the franchise has given him permission to speak with other teams.
Babcock has spent the last 10 years in Detroit, leading the franchise to the playoffs every year of his tenure and winning the 2008 Stanley Cup.
Whatever happens, he expects to make his decision very soon.
Asked Mike Babcock if he is leaving Detroit? Babcock: "Not sure, know by morning." #RedWings
