Will Muschamp wasn't about to let new Florida coach Jim McElwain's comments about the Gators' roster get under his skin.

The Auburn defensive coordinator, who was fired as Florida's coach in November, responded to McElwain's comment that "the hand [he was] dealt is really insufficient at some of the areas.” McElwain was mainly referring to the lack of scholarship players Florida currently has at linebacker and on the offensive line.

“I didn’t see any comments,” Muschamp said to 247Sports. “At the time, (offensive linemen) D.J. Humphries and Tyler Moore had not declared for the NFL Draft. Certainly, at that position, the numbers are down. Other than that, there are a lot of good football players down there."

Muschamp continued to defend the roster he left behind and fired a saucy comment of his own at McElwain.

“He said he could coach a dog and win," Muschamp said. "Heck, he likes a dog better than his players?”

Woof.

During McElwain's first news conference as Florida's coach in December, the former Colorado State head man said he believes he "can win with [his] dog Claribelle. That's the attitude. There's good players here. That's just our responsibility to get that going."

Unfortunately for fans of bad blood, Auburn and Florida won't meet on the field in 2015.
