There's an arms race in the AFC East.

Of the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL, two rest comfortably in the AFC East entering 2023, with Josh Allen attempting to lead the Bills to another division crown. This year, they'll have a little bit more competition from the Jets, who added a guy named Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

Allen and the Bills are looking to erase a forgettable end to their 2022 season, when they were handed an ugly, sloppy loss at the hands of the Bengals in the divisional round. The Jets are looking to erase something of their own: The longest playoff drought in North American sports.

They'll have a new-look offense to help them get there. Not only has Rodgers joined the fray, but he's flanked by former Packers runningmates Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, and he'll also have help from former Vikings back Dalvin Cook.

That all makes for must-watch TV, and it all gets away on "Monday Night Football" in Week 1. Here's when you can catch the game:

NFL schedule Week 1

The Chiefs vs. Lions contest will kick off the NFL season in Week 1 and it is expected to be a high-scoring contest thanks to the presence of Patrick Mahomes and a rock-solid Detroit offense. It also should be a good barometer for the Lions as they enter the season with expectations of winning the NFC North.

The other two prime-time games this week are divisional clashes between playoff hopefuls. The Giants will host the Cowboys on "Sunday Night Football," and the Bills and Jets will square off on "Monday Night Football." The Jets will be the team to watch among that quartet, as many will be interested to see how Aaron Rodgers fares in his first season in New York.

Among the most notable games Sunday afternoon will be Jordan Love's debut as the Packers' full-time starter. He'll face the Bears, a team Rodgers used to dominate. The reigning NFC-champion Eagles will also be in action as they face the Patriots in a Super Bowl 52 rematch.

And, of course, three rookie NFL quarterbacks will make their debuts, as well. Bryce Young's Panthers will play the Falcons, C.J. Stroud's Texans will face the Ravens and Anthony Richardson's Colts will play the Jaguars. Fans will look forward to seeing which of those players enjoys the best start to their NFL career.
