Trent Williams has missed three games over the last five seasons. He's going to sit out the next four.
The Redskins announced Tuesday the Pro Bowl tackle has been suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He previously was suspended for the last four games of the 2011 season after failing multiple drug tests.

"We met with Trent (Tuesday) to discuss this unfortunate news," the Redskins said in a statement. "Per the terms of the policy, Trent will be permitted to participate in team meetings and workout at the Redskins' facilities throughout this time. The Redskins are counting on Trent to help our team when he returns from suspension. Our focus will now turn to the Minnesota Vikings after our bye this upcoming weekend. Any questions related to this matter should be directed to the NFL or NFLPA."
Williams, a Pro Bowler each of the last four seasons and team captain, was the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He has been a stalwart on Washington's offensive line ever since. The team's starting left tackle has even played some guard this season because of injuries to Washington's offensive line.

Williams signed a five-year, $66 million contract extension, with $43.25 million guaranteed, before the 2015 season.
He will be eligible to return to Washington's active roster on Monday, Dec. 5 following the team’s game against the Cardinals.
