Report: Trent Richardson files grievance against Colts image

The Trent Richardson era in Indianapolis came to an end Thursday, and on Friday the running back filed a grievance against the team, according to ProFootballTalk.

The Colts suspended Richardson ahead of the AFC Championship Game after he missed a walkthough practice, which voided the $3.184 million base salary he was due for the 2015-16 season if the Colts ended up releasing him. In other words, the Colts got out of paying Richardson by suspending him.

According to the Colts, the suspension was due to "conduct detrimental to the team." Richardson tells a different tale. It was revealed in early February that Richardson missed the practice due to a family emergency. The Colts claim he did not contact team officials in a timely manner.

Richardson likely wouldn't have filed a grievance if the Colts hadn't released him. He now hopes an arbitrator will rule in his favor.
