Jerry Jones reiterates Tony Romo is Cowboys' 'No. 1 quarterback' image

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't want to hear anything about a quarterback controversy. He reiterated Sunday, after rookie Dak Prescott led an easier-than-expected 28-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, that Tony Romo is his starting quarterback when healthy.

"Tony is our No. 1 quarterback," Jones said,  via ESPN.com . "We're going to have the luxury of being able to, I think, see them both. Now I don't want to take anything — presume that Dak is going to be necessarily healthy. I don't want to presume anything like that, but I welcome the opportunity of having Dak playing at this level and Tony back in excellent health. It's going to be really special for the Cowboys."

Prescott has been a revelation for a franchise that feared the season may be lost after Romo went down with a back injury during the preseason. Instead, the fourth-round pick has ignited fans with his arm and legs.

In Sunday's convincing win, Prescott completed 18 of 24 passes for 227 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for his third touchdown of the season.

DECOURCY: No reason to hand Romo his job back

Jones revealed Romo will undergo an MRI on Monday, and he expects the exam to reveal Romo's fracture suffered in late August has fully healed. Jones still did not name a date for Romo's return, but Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles has been a previous target.

It's tough to imagine the Cowboys moving away from Prescott if he continues to progress and click with star rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, but Jones is Romo's biggest fan, and he will clearly give him every opportunity to earn back his job.
