Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is returning home for Patriots vs. Packers Sunday. Romo, who is calling the game in Green Bay for CBS, will be making a stop at Burlington High School, for the official dedication of "Tony Romo Field."
Romo, of course, went to Burlington High in Wisconsin. The upcoming weekend is the school's homecoming.
"Tony has had a unique way of making a positive impact for Burlington and beyond," Burlington High School athletics director Eric Plitzuweit said in a release, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Whether it was through his on-field performance, his professional achievements beyond the field, or his ability to give back to the youth in our community, we are honored to have Tony Romo call Burlington his hometown. Tony Romo Field is a positive step forward for the Burlington community, Burlington High School, and the Burlington Area School District.”

According to the school district's website, Romo was a three-sport All-State athlete at Burlington, playing basketball and golf in addition to football. Burlington debuted a new synthetic playing surface this year, which is what is technically being named after Romo. It was named for him in February 2020, with the full facility being called Dalton Stadium.
Post-high school, Romo went on to play for Eastern Illinois in college before signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He is the Cowboys' all-time passing leader at 34,183 yards, surpassing Troy Aikman. Dak Prescott is still nearly 1,200 yards off his mark.
Where Romo has really left his mark, of course, is in the broadcasting booth. He and Jim Nantz have become synonymous with big-time football, calling CBS's marquee games. Romo's reputation comes from his keen eye and ability to call out what teams are doing before they do it.
Burlington will be playing Beloit Memorial for its homecoming game.
