The Patriots reportedly are re-working Tom Brady's contract, which is expected put him more in line with other quarterbacks on the market, as the 2018 season quickly approaches.

According to ESPN, citing unidentified sources, the Patriots are expected to make adjustments to Brady's contract with the addition of a variety of performance-based incentives and it will likely be added within the next 24 hours. The incentives are expected to be $5 million added to the $15 million he was set to make in 2018, NFL Network reported

ESPN's report adds the change will be similar to what the Patriots did last year with tight end Rob Gronkowski as he kept his base salary but was given an opportunity to earn more through incentives.

Brady ranks fifth among NFL quarterbacks for base salary in 2018, according to Spotrac, and his current contract runs through the 2019 season. It's not clear if there have been any talks about a contract extension as the 41-year-old enters his 19th NFL season.

Brady is coming off an MVP season in which he completed 66.3 percent of his passes and threw 32 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
