Terry Bradshaw not a huge fan of Steelers' Mike Tomlin: 'He's a cheerleader guy' image

We have some Steeler-on-Steeler crime here.

Former Pittsburgh quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw, never one to shy away from an opportunity to speak his mind, was a guest Friday on Fox Sports 1's "Speak For Yourself." There he was asked whether current Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin still needs to prove himself as a great coach.

Bradshaw was rather frank in his response.

DeCOURCY: Why Tomlin is a great coach

"I don't think he's a great coach at all," Bradshaw said. "He's a nice coach. He's really a great cheerleader guy. I don't know what he does, but I don't think he's a great coach at all.

"His name never even pops in my mind when we think about great coaches in the NFL."

Ouch.

SN's Mike DeCourcy, for what it's worth, could not possibly disagree more with Bradshaw.

"By any reasonable objective measure, Tomlin is performing at an elite level," DeCourcy wrote earlier this month. "One might go so far to say he is performing at a Hall of Fame level. He already ranks 40th on the NFL’s career victories list. Of the 32 retired coaches ahead of him, 18 are enshrined in Canton, and Mike Shanahan and Tom Coughlin just need to wait to be eligible."

Tomlin is 101-57 — 6-5 in the playoffs — in his (almost) 10 seasons as Pittsburgh's coach, with one Super Bowl title to boast.

He likely does not care about Bradshaw's assessment.
