Terrell Owens says no to XFL: 'Can't make mockery of football' image

Terrell Owens, 44, stays in great shape as a retired NFL player. So would the former 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Bills and Bengals wide receiver entertain thoughts of returning to play professionally in the XFL when the league kicks off again?

Color Owens blind to that 2020 vision.

"Aboslutely not," Owens told Sporting News on Wednesday. "The XFL is two years away. Vince McMahon, he had a run at that in 2001 and it didn't really do so well. He's had a number of years to try to figure it out, and has only two years before it starts up to put it back on the right track."

"I don't foresee it being a great success unless they make some drastic changes to bring together some quality talent and bring together a quality game. That's what it's about. He can't make a mockery of football. He's looking at it like a business, but you need to have quality with that."

The new XFL is not the only thing T.O. doesn't want to stink. Owens has teamed up with Febreze and its #BleepDontStink ad campaign for Super Bowl 52.

"On Sunday, come the second quarter, everybody will be introduced to Dave, the guy whose bleep doesn’t stink. For your Super Bowl party, my Super Bowl party, you know everybody’s going to the bathroom during the commercial breaks, so you gotta to stock up on Febreze to be like Dave.

"I assure you everyone that watch me play over the course of my career, a lot of people had to think my bleep didn’t stink then. This is a big reason for the partnership I have with Febreze.”

For his work with Febreze, Owens was rewarded with the opportunity of his image gracing a can of the popular air freshener.

"This is definitely better than being on a Wheaties box, that's for sure," Owens said.
