Report: Tampering charges filed against Jets image

Comments made about Patriots corner Darrelle Revis could cost Woody Johnson, as tampering charges have been filed against the Jets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The charges stem from comments made last month by the Jets owner, who discussed Revis (a former Jets player) during a news conference announcing the firing of coach Rex Ryan and GM John Idzik.

"I'd love for Darrelle to come back," Johnson said.

The NFL's tampering policy: "Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s agent or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation of the Anti-Tampering Policy."

Revis' contract includes an option for 2015 valued at $20 million. If the Patriots decline the option it would make Revis an unrestricted free agent, and the Jets could then speak of (and to) the corner whenever they wish.
