Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry was an honorary member of the Carolina Panthers during the team's Super Bowl 50 pregame introduction.

The Golden State Warriors guard pounded a drum as part of the team's "Keep Pounding" tradition.

Curry grew up in the Charlotte area and starred at nearby Davidson College. He was also the team's "Keep Pounding" drummer for their Sept. 20 home win over the Texans.

The Panthers adopted the "Keep Pounding" mantra following a pregame speech given by former linebacker and coach Sam Mills before Carolina's playoff game against the Cowboys on Jan. 2, 2004. The Panthers reached their first Super Bowl that season before losing to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII. Mills died in 2005 at the age of 45 following a two-year fight with cancer. His legacy lives on with the "Keep Pounding" slogan sewn into the inside collars of Carolina's jerseys.

Curry led the Warriors to an NBA championship last season and has Golden State out to a ridiculous 46-4 record this season. The Panthers are hoping he can be a good luck charm as they attempt to win their first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
