Steelers vs. Ravens score, result: Pittsburgh stays undefeated despite sloppy performance image

The Steelers advanced to 11-0 on Wednesday despite an uninspiring effort against the shorthanded Ravens.

Pittsburgh squandered multiple red zone trips and muffed a punt in its 19-14 win. It also nearly blew a late 12-point advantage, needing a tough catch from James Washington in traffic to prevent Baltimore from getting the ball back with the chance to take the lead in the final two minutes of regulation.

As expected, the Ravens offense struggled without Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, J.K. Dobbins or Willie Snead IV. Before a 70-yard touchdown grab by Marquise Brown with 2:58 to go, the depleted group, which subbed in quarterback Trace McSorley for Robert Griffin III in the fourth quarter, managed just 40 passing yards.

It was surprising, then, that the Steelers never managed to pull away. Should they continue to make the mistakes they made against Baltimore, their undefeated mark won't last much longer.

Coach Mike Tomlin used the term "unacceptable" multiple times in his postgame news conference to describe his frustration.

"We didn't play well or coach well tonight," Tomlin said.

Steelers vs. Ravens result, highlights

Final: Steelers 19, Ravens 14

6:35 p.m.: What a catch by James Washington in traffic! With the Ravens sensing some panic from the Steelers, Roethlisberger floats a third-down duck that could have been intercepted or fallen incomplete to stop the clock. Washington didn't let go once the ball entered his grasp.

6:32 p.m.: Justin Tucker pins the Steelers by kicking deep when Pittsburgh expected an onside kick.

6:29 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, Ravens. Hollywood Brown uses his speed to take an intermediate pass 70 yards. That makes things interesting with 2:58 remaining. 19-14, Pittsburgh.

6:26 p.m.: Johnson drops what should have been an easy third-down catch. The Steelers kick the ball back to Baltimore.

6:22 p.m.: The Ravens punt in what appears to be a surrender. 5:13 left in regulation.

6:21 p.m.: McSorley almost throws an interception. Star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick dropped the ball.

6:19 p.m.: McSorley uses his legs to convert a fourth down.

6:15 p.m.: Trace McSorley enters for the Ravens in place of Griffin.

6:14 p.m.: Eric Ebron drops a would-be first down. The Ravens get the ball back down 12 points.

6:13 p.m.: Pittsburgh has run the clock below eight minutes. Third-and-2 coming up.

6:11 p.m.: The Steelers are a score away from essentially ending this game. Even a long drive without points would make it difficult for the Ravens to come back.

6:09 p.m.: Baltimore punts with 11:30 remaining.

6 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, Steelers. Smith-Schuster secures his sixth score of the season. 19-7, Pittsburgh.

5:59 p.m.: JuJu Smith-Schuster dishes out a vicious stiff arm to gain eight yards on a short throw to the sideline.

5:57 p.m.: Benny Snell fights off contact behind the line of scrimmage before bouncing outside and passing the first-down marker.

End of third quarter: Steelers 12, Ravens 7

5:50 p.m.: A third-down pass over the middle to Diontae Johnson has the Steelers on the move. One play later, cornerback Marcus Peters (who had been covering the receiver) limps off the field.

5:42 p.m.: Ravens punt.

5:41 p.m.: T.J. Watt is up to double digit sacks in 2020. He takes down Griffin to force third-and-21.

5:36 p.m.: Baltimore's defense makes another stop. The group has kept the Ravens in this game despite so many absences on offense.

5:30 p.m.: Hill is hit behind the line on third down. Baltimore went conservative and was punished. They have to punt.

5:28 p.m.: Edwards spins for a first down, but a hold brings it back.

5:26 p.m.: Cam Heyward is called for roughing the passer, though replays show the penalty was questionable. The Ravens are now past midfield.

5:20 p.m.: Tramon Williams forces fourth down with a pass deflection. The Steelers are then stopped and turn the ball over on downs.

5:19 p.m.: Marlon Humphrey is flagged for pass interference on a deep ball intended for Claypool.

5:17 p.m.: Pittsburgh gets the ball first in the second half.

Halftime: Steelers 12, Ravens 7

5:02 p.m.: Baltimore runs out of time! After a stopped run with about 20 seconds left in the half, the Steelers delay the next snap long enough for Griffin's ensuing incompletion to come with no time remaining. The Ravens could have entered halftime with the lead if they'd converted.

5 p.m.: Justice Hill takes off for 19 yards to set up first-and-goal for the Ravens.

4:56 p.m.: Griffin pulls up limping after another run but stays in. Appears to be a hamstring injury.

4:53 p.m.: Turn back the clock, RG3!

4:48 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, Steelers. Another failed chance inside the 10 for Mike Tomlin's squad. 12-7, Pittsburgh.

4:41 p.m.: Chase Claypool snags a long reception inside the Ravens 30.

4:38 p.m.: The Ravens punt.

4:30 p.m.: The Steelers zip down the field but cannot find the end zone. Last time here they went for it on fourth down and threw a pick. This time they take the easy points. 9-7, Pittsburgh.

End of first quarter: Ravens 7, Steelers 6

4:12 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, Ravens. Gus Edwards goes up the gut. 7-6, Baltimore.

4:10 p.m.: Griffin rushes for a first down. That was a designed run. First-and-goal for the Ravens.

4:07 p.m.: Pittsburgh muffs a punt deep in its own territory. What a bad mistake from the Steelers with the Ravens on the ropes.

3:59 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, Steelers. Griffin throws a pick-six. The ensuing PAT attempt sails wide. 6-0, PIttsburgh.

3:55 p.m.: Interception! Ben Roethlisberger makes an inexplicable throw on fourth-and-goal that floats straight to linebacker Tyus Bowser.

3:50 p.m.: Griffin and Gus Edwards botch a read-option, and the ball ends up on the turf. Pittsburgh recovers inside the Baltimore 30.

3:47 p.m.: And so too do the Steelers. Slow start for each offense.

3:45 p.m.: Baltimore goes three-and-out.

3:41 p.m.: The Ravens receive the opening kickoff. We're underway.
